Chris wanted shutters for their cottage, because he though they would compliment the look of the property and the feel of the house, along with how they use their cottage and windows, they thought that shutters would offer fantastic functionality. And would solve the problem of needing to have coverings at their windows prior to the arrival of their new baby daughter!

We researched several shutter companies via the internet and received quotes from a national company and a local company before coming across The California Shutter and Blind Company via the B&Q website.

The online quote we received from you was substantially less for shutters than the two other quotes for what was the same product.

Originally we had considered, curtains, and then blinds, our property is dated back to the 1600's and although there have been many improvements done over the years it still retains a lot of the period features.  None of the walls are straight and in the main bedroom we have a solid oak window sill that is significantly higher at one end.

We had a conversation with the sales team and our minds were put at ease when they explained the options open to us when designing our own shutters.
The service we received both over the phone and via the website ensured that we took the correct measurements and the shutters fit perfectly, even though we do have this irregular feature of an old wooden sill. These are the parts of our property which give it character and we wanted to make it a feature rather than disguise it.

We chose the ivory colour for our shutters to be painted in as it is a very close match to the rest of the woodwork in the cottage.  The slat size and panel configuration was decided after a very useful telephone consultation with one of your advisors.  She suggested we go for either an equal amount or double amount of panels in relation to window panes to maintain symmetry and suggested the size of the shutters based on the window size and number of panels we had selected.

Delivery times were agreed and met and the shutters were not only extremely well made but also straightforward to fit.  The end result is perfect and compliments both our bedroom and the nursery.  We are very pleased with the service we received throughout and the look of the shutters and no doubt our 3 week old daughter is looking forward to spending time in her new nursery.  I would thoroughly recommend California Co. to anyone who is interested in adding shutters to their property.  Sadly, it is not often that you order something like this and everything goes without a hitch but this is one of those exceptions.
