Which White Is the Right White?

shutter white options

Our Plantation Shutters are available in a wide spectrum of white painted colours. With interior décor trends very much favouring whites and off whites, most customers buying painted shutters are looking for a pure white or an off white finish. The paint range we offer is inspired by many popular Fired Earth and Farrow & Ball paint colours and within our pallet, there should certainly be a colour to suit your décor choice.

Our advice is to look around the room and consider the other colours you see. Initially, many people think their shutters will be best suited to match the colour of the walls but we suggest you think carefully before making this choice. Sometimes, having your plantation shutters the exact same shade as your walls can make the shutters a little too bland and not provide enough contrast or impact on your room.

Think about it this way. If the woodwork within your room is a different colour to your painted or wallpapered walls, it’s probably a better idea to tie in the colour of your shutters with the colour of your woodwork. Look at your internal doors, your skirting boards, window frames and window sills. Often, these are painted white or a shade of white and choosing shutters in a shade to match this range is often a good choice. The shutters then pick up and accentuate the colour of the wood work inside the room and offer a subtle contrast to the wall finish.

Which shade of white is really down to you! Our most popular sellers are our white (the ‘brightest’ white in our range) and ‘all white’ which is a slightly softer white finish. After this, the spectrum seems an increasing amount of ‘cream’ shading within the range, right down to an alabaster finish, which is a mushroom inspired colour.
