Measuring for 3 Section Bay Window plantation shutters

We recommend you use a steel tape measure

  • Measure the width at 3 points, left to right. The width you convey will include the frame as shown in the diagrams below.
  • Measure the height at 3 points, top to bottom. Again, the height will include the frame.
  1. Your plantation shutters are mounted within a frame we provide. The instructions as follow explain how to measure.
  2. Depending on your window design, your frames may be mounted as 3 separate ‘outside mount’ frames which would result in a slight gap between the frames (have a quick read over ‘measure guide outside mount’). Alternatively, the 3 frames could butt up close together. We can help if you are unsure which works best for your window.
  3. We advise you to print the frame templates provided, to scale. That way, you can place the cut outs on the window and measure the widths correctly.
  4. Remember the dimensions you give us should include the frame. So, using your frame template cut outs measure left to right from outside edge of frame to outside edge of frame.
  5. When measuring the height, it’s important that the heights are the same. While your window may vary by a few millimeters, find an average height and use this as your measurement.
  6. If having café style, tier on tier design or you require a mid rail in your shutters, please refer to the photos in the full measure guide to show you where to measure.

If you would like further advice on your actual window, please email a clear digital image to hello@californiashutters.co.uk .Ensure all curtains are moved away from the window and that handles and the full window is in the photo.
