What are Venetian Shutters?

Venetian plantation shutters

This term is often used because of plantation shutters’ similarity to venetian blinds. Quite simply, “venetian shutters” is another term for plantation shutters. And while this is not, technically speaking, an official type of shutters, there are those which could be labelled as being in the venetian style.

How to Achieve the Venetian Look

When designing your wooden shutters there are several things to consider to help you get the venetian look.

Slat Size for Venetian Window Shutters

Firstly, it is important to select a smaller slat size. We offer 4 sizes: 64mm, 76mm, 89mm, and 114mm. We would recommend going with either of the smaller two, but this is also a matter of personal preference.

Venetian Blinds Style

There are certain styles which are more visually reminiscent of venetian blinds. Our Full Height or Tier-On-Tier shutters may be the most suitable choice. This is because they cover the entirety of your windows. As such, our Café and Solid shutters may not be the best choice for a venetian look.

Best Material For Venetian Shutters

This one isn’t as critical as the other considerations, but it’s always nice to have different options. That’s why we offer our shutters in two different materials: Pure Hardwood and the UK-made Faux Wood.

Colour Choices for Venetian Shutters

Venetian blinds are usually white, or off-white. As such, it only makes sense to follow suit when designing your venetian window shutters. Luckily, we offer a gorgeous selection of whites and creams. However, should you wish to go with something a little different, we also have greys, a varied range of wood stains, and even some textured limewash finishes. Oh, and we will even supply you with free samples to help you decide.
