Why conservatory shutters over blinds?

Window shutters aren’t only superior to blinds, they trump curtains too. In fact, we’ve already written a blog that details the modern window treatment options. If you’re in a bit of a hurry though, here are a few of the reasons to add shutters to your must-have list:

  • Versatility
  • Soundproofing
  • Year-round heat regulation
  • Kerb appeal
  • Light and privacy management
  • Ease of measuring and fitting (more on this shortly)

Which shutter style works best for conservatories?

This will depend on your conservatory window dressing needs. For the utmost privacy, our full height shutters will cover the entirety of your windows. Conversely, our café style shutters will cover only part of the window (usually halfway, but this is up to you). This allows you to combine brightness with ground level privacy.

For the best of both worlds, why not opt for our Tier-on-tier shutters? They cover the entire window, while the top and bottom sections can be controlled separately. Whatever choice you make, DIY shutters will add style and cosiness to your favourite space.

Are conservatory shutters easy to measure and fit?

If you have ever put flatpack furniture together, DIY shutters will be no issue. Just like measuring and fitting shutters in other rooms, we make things as simple as possible for you.

Our easy-to-follow measuring and installing guides can be downloaded here to keep things nice and simple. Worried that you won’t have the necessary kit? All you’ll need is a hammer, screwdriver, drill, tape measure (preferably steel), and spirit level!

What about shutter materials?

We offer two materials, each one perfect for conservatory plantation shutters. Our hardwood shutters are made entirely from high quality paulownia and are available in all styles and colours.

For conservatories more prone to condensation, our faux wood shutters are 100% waterproof and come in Snow White and Silk White.

Conservatory window treatments to let in the daylight

When thinking about your conservatory makeover ideas, it’s always important to consider the practicalities. When decorating, it’s important to remember that a conservatory is designed for brightness.

To maximise light, we recommend going for café style, but full height shutters work well too. It’s also worth considering slat sizes as the larger the slat, the more light will flow into the room.

How much do conservatory shutters cost?

That’s the million-dollar question isn’t it? Luckily, shutters won’t cost you the world compared to other conservatory window treatments, so there’s no need to put your conservatory interior ideas on hold.

Not only are shutters an incredibly affordable window covering, but they’re also a great investment that will last you for years to come. However, if you want an idea of price, check enter your measurements into our quick quote calculator.
