Our waterproof shutters are an ideal dressing for windows in humid or steamy rooms such as a small bathroom, kitchen or wet room.
They can come into direct contact with water and live to tell the tale in tip top condition for years and years. What’s more, there’s no telling the difference between waterproof shutters and their wooden counterparts, meaning no compromise whatsoever. Rest assured, you are going to love waterproof shutters just as much as the rest of our range!
Why should I buy waterproof shutters?
For a start, they’re our most affordable shutter, coming in at around the £170 per square metre mark. In fact, this makes them one of the best value waterproof shutters on the UK market, not to mention one of the most advanced. Your main consideration for choosing waterproof shutters though should be for their primary function. That is, to beautifully dress your windows in areas of high humidity or direct moisture. Windows in well ventilated areas do not require waterproof shutters and our Affordable Hybrawood range may well be a better bet for you.
If however you’re looking to buy shutters for a small, humid room or one where you imagine water will come into direct contact with the window then you should definitely consider buying waterproof shutters. They won’t warp, they won’t fade, they won’t peel - and that’s a promise.
What are waterproof shutters made of?
Our waterproof shutters are manufactured using the same materials as crash helmets and kettles. How’s that for an opening statement? This strong ABS plastic material is then coated in our high quality lacquer in a choice of four neutral colours. It’s worth noting here that it’s the ABS plastic that is waterproof rather than the lacquer coating. They are available, like all our other shutters, with either 69, 76, 89 or 114mm slats, central, clearview or offset tilt rod and inside or outside mounted frame. The only difference is that the sole hinge option is stainless steel for a timeless look.
Are waterproof shutters actually waterproof?
The ABS plastic with which they’re constructed is 100% waterproof. It won’t warp. The paint used to coat the shutters is not 100% waterproof, however it will not peel or fade when coming into contact with water. Rest assured you’ll have no problems with the longevity of your shutters in humid and wet areas and they do exactly what they say on the tin!
Which rooms are best suited to waterproof shutters?
As mentioned above, any room where humidity is high or where water could be coming into contact with the shutters is suited to the waterproof kind. This means that small, poorly ventilated bathrooms, wetrooms and kitchens are ideal candidates.
Are waterproof shutters easy to fit?
In a word, yes! Our mantra isn’t as simple as ‘Measure. Fit. Love’ for nothing - it really is as simple as that! They’re as easy to fit as all our other shutters, meaning that all you’ll need are a hammer, screwdriver, drill and spirit level to achieve waterproof shutter perfection. All the holes come pre-drilled, so as long as you get your measurements right it’s as simple as putting together flat pack furniture. Our passionate and knowledgeable team of shutter experts are here to help every step of the way to ensure that you can indeed measure, fit and love your shutters with blissful ease.
